Christmas Home Tour Saturday the 5th

In the very beginning of the house building process, we decided that we wanted to be on the Paola Christmas home tour some day. Well, it is here... this coming Saturday. We were fortunate to get wonderful decorators; Kathy Peace, Cindy Porter, Pam King and Diane Husted to help us. Their visions have brought Casa Somerset to be the most beautiful decorated home I have ever lived in. They put hours and hours into it. The room shown is just one of many. We call it the Raphael room. We hope you will stop by to view our house and all of the others on Paola's Christmas home tour. Christine's future daughter-on-law, Toshia , will be baking cookies at the house that day. Her son Mark will be here as well.
You can read more about it at http://www.paolachamber.org/
AND ON THE HOME FRONT......
My son Joshua went the extra mile with the Turkey for Thanksgiving on the roof. It was a practical joke on Christine, as she is not fond of inflatables. She came home last Tuesday evening and it was up on the roof. As she drove up, she just stopped and stared at it! It was hilarious!

I hope everyone had a happy and delicious Thanksgiving! Christine and I made our usual family favorites... she did her family's choices and I made mine. She had dressing, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. I fixed stuffing, sweet potatoes, and brussel sprouts. We are able to agree on the turkey, so only one of those was necessary! :-)
Saturday, we went down to my daughter Heather's house for a second Thanksgiving dinner. She did a great job. They live down in Warsaw, Missouri.
Next on the family favorite calendar is Christmas Eve and Christmas day dinners....

Paola Christmas Home Tour

Mike and I talked for a couple of years about being on the "Christmas Home Tour" in our area. We collected Christmas decorations for most of the 6 years that we have known each other. We have so many decorations that it actually became cumbersome!!! They filled two garages and my basement when I lived in Overland Park. Never, in my imagination, would we need more Christmas decorations.
Well, after actually signing up for the tour, we knew we needed help to get the house ready. Mike asked 4 friends, Cindy Porter, Diane Husted, Pam King, and Kathy Peace, to help us. They decided they could come every Friday, for 4 weeks. These are Wonderful People! They are so talented and creative! Their last week is this coming Friday. They still have a lot to do.
Each bedroom has unique decorations. Both kitchens are beautiful. We did have to purchase a lot more decorations, but they needed to fit the rooms here, at Casa Somerset, not old homes that we owned before!

We hope that you will come out to Paola for the Christmas Home Tour. It is Saturday, 12/5.
The tour is 11am to 4pm. The tickets are $10.00 each.
Check out the home page of the Paola Chamber of Commerce at:

A couple of our close friends are also on the home tour this year. Brenda and Steve have a beautiful Victorian home in the city of Paola. I can't wait to see their house. Also, Vickie and Paul, who have a farm, are on the tour.
Mike and I are not sure how we will see all of the houses when we are on the tour! We would love to see all of you on the 5th!
Take care...
Christine and Mike
